Rennes goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez has explained his decision to quit the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season. The shot-stopper was running out of contract with Rennes and the side wanted his future resolving quickly.

The 31-year-old, who was linked with English Premier League side Liverpool, has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain in July and is looking forward to embarking on a new challenge.

"The decision was very difficult to take", said Douchez.

"I hesitated a lot, but I needed to give a quick response to Rennes. I think this is the best solution. I’ll be playing in one of the best stadiums in Ligue 1."
