According to reports from Italy, Carlo Ancelotti has rejected the opportunity to become West Ham United’s new manager.
Incredibly it seems the newly-relegated side offered the former Chelsea manager the opportunity to stay in London and guide the Hammers back to the Premier League at the first time of asking – but Ancelotti refused.
Italian source Sky Sport 24 report that West Ham sounded Ancelotti out over the post shortly after his departure from Chelsea, but were met with a polite ‘no’.
Former Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is expected to be unveiled as West Ham’s new manager within the next week as the Hammers search for a notable appointment to steer them through a season in the Championship.
Ancelotti meanwhile has not decided on his next move and even though talk of a move to his beloved Roma dominates, it appears the Giallorossi could look elsewhere.
The 51-year-old may even yet remain in London, with chatter beginning over a potential swoop from newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers for his services.
