FC Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he is inspired by Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola and the club’s brand of "tiki-taka" football.

Villas-Boas has swept all before him with the Portuguese side this season, winning the domestic league without losing a single game and also picking up the Europa League in Dublin last month. Tipped for bigger things, Jose Mourinho’s former assistant has explained that it is the Barcelona coach he looks to for inspiration.

And the Portuguese delighted in meeting Guardiola in February in Catalonia for an informal chat.

"Guardiola is an inspiration to me every day", explained Villas-Boas.

"Fortunately, I had the opportunity to finally meet him in February. I am inspired not only by him, but also his philosophy and the philosophy of Barcelona, of [Johan] Cruyff, of Rinus Michels."

Villas-Boas is expected to remain with Porto next season despite much interest in his services. It does seem though, only a matter of time until he comes face to face with Guardiola in the technical area, and fate could throw the two clubs together in next season’s Champions League.
