Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to keep hold of defender Gael Clichy.

Clichy has just one year left on his current deal at the Emirates and has been linked with a number of sides, most notably Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Liverpool.

But Wenger does not want Clichy to leave the Emirates and the Gunners are working hard to keep the Frenchman.

"We started discussions with Gael and we want him to stay", Wenger told Sky Sports.

However, if discussions with Clichy prove fruitless, then it is also doubtful Wenger would allow the Frenchman to move to one of Arsenal’s Premier League rivals.
