Inter will not sell Lucio even if the two parties fail to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Lucio’s current deal with the Nerazzurri expires on 30th June, 2012, and talks have been under way to try and find an agreement to extend this.

The Serie A giants want to keep hold of the former Bayern Munich stopper, but prefer to extend the 33-year-old’s deal by just an extra year. Luico however wants two further years.

While Lucio himself is currently with the Brazil squad at the Copa America, his agent Sandro Becker is due in Milan next week to meet Inter technical director Marco Branca.

Both sides are optimistic that a compromise suitable to each party can be reached.

However, if no agreement can be found, Inter are prepared to keep Lucio for the final year of his agreement, despite the risk the defender could walk away for free next summer.
