Paraguayan striker Nelson Valdez is close to moving to Russian side Rubin Kazan.

The 27-year-old is currently under contract with Spanish side Hercules, who suffered the pain of relegation from La Liga last season.

Now Valdez’ spell in Spain looks to be coming to an end.

Hercules have agreed a fee of €4M with Rubin Kazan and the Russian side are preparing to place a four-year contract worth €2.4M per season in front of the forward.

Valdez is unlikely to be signed up in time to take part in Rubin’s Champions League qualifier against Lyon next week, but could well feature in the second leg.
