Chelsea have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Valencia for Spanish winger Juan Mata.
Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has been keen to add genuine width to his side and believes that the 23-year-old is the answer.
Mata starred for Spain at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship and was targeted by Arsenal just weeks ago, but the Gunners were unable to reach an agreement with Los Che.
"An agreement has been reached with Valencia CF for the transfer of midfielder Juan Manuel Mata", announced Chelsea on the club’s official website.
"The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms."
The agreement of a fee was revealed by Spanish sources yesterday.
