Australian A-League side Sydney FC are snapping up Brett Emerton from Blackburn Rovers.
Emerton is in the final year of his contract with the English side, but Rovers have agreed to terminate the agreement 12 months early so the Australia star can return home.
Sydney had been in the running to sign Harry Kewell, but the former Liverpool winger opted to join Melbourne Victory instead.
Nevertheless, Sydney were determined to announce a star arrival, and eyes were quickly fixed on Emerton.
The 32-year-old joined Blackburn in 2003, switching from Dutch side Feyenoord.
He has made 247 Premier League appearances with the Ewood Park outfit.
