Bayern Munich stalwart Philipp Lahm has insisted that the Bavarians will be going all out to claim the Bundesliga title from Borussia Dortmund this season.

Last year was one of huge disappointment for Lahm’s men, with Dortmund pipping them to the German crown and then beating them in the German Cup final. Bayern Munich also lost to Chelsea in the Champions League final on home turf.

And it is these bitter experiences that are pushing Jupp Heynckes’ side on to lift silverware next season, with the thought that they have now gone two years with no Bundesliga title fresh in their minds.

It is no surprise then that for Lahm it is clearly reclaiming the Bundesliga title which matters most.

“Dortmund were careful not to make any triumphal statements, but nevertheless we know that next year they are the team to beat”, said Lahm.

“We used to bring at least one trophy to the Allianz Arena every two seasons, so now the Bundesliga is our priority”, added the defender in a nod to the fact that Dortmund have now won two successive German titles.

Dortmund though have been weakened from last season’s all-conquering side through losing midfielder Shinji Kagawa to Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp’s men also know prolific striker Robert Lewandowski is a wanted man.
