The race to sign Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura appears to be reaching its conclusion, with multiple reports from England that Manchester United are on the verge of signing the 19-year-old.

However, according to Globoesporte, Sao Paulo’s board have refused to confirm that an imminent transfer is in the offing, leaving the situation unclear.

Manchester United are thought to have now bid €37.8M for Moura, an amount which would give Sao Paulo the €30M they have been seeking for the Brazil international, once the party which owns 20% of the player’s economic rights have been paid.

Moura is reported as being imminently due in Manchester – the midfielder is in England with Brazil’s Olympic team for the 2012 London Games football tournament – for a medical.

Interestingly though, Inter technical director Marco Branca is also in England and has been keen to speak to Moura personally.

The Nerazzurri have bid €29.8M for the Sao Paulo schemer – an amount not considered good enough by the Brazilian club.

Inter, who were recently given a cash boost by the sale of 20% of the club’s shareholding to a group of Chinese investors, now look like missing out on Moura to Manchester United.
