Defender Kyle Bartley has sealed a transfer from Arsenal to Swansea City after completing a medical at the Liberty Stadium.

The player confirmed the news that he has completed his medical at Swansea through his official Twitter account.

“Swansea medical complete”, read the player’s tweet from his official account.

The 21-year-old then also confirmed that he has joined the Swans on a permanent transfer rather than a season-long loan deal, but insisted that it was difficult to leave the club he joined as a 16-year-old.

“Swansea deal complete. Very happy. Was an extremely tough decision for me to leave Arsenal, but felt the time was right”, said the English defender.

Bartley, who spent his last three seasons on loan at Sheffield United and Rangers, insisted that he decided to leave Arsenal after he was informed by Arsene Wenger that his first-team opportunities would be limited this term.

“Was told my chances of game time this year would be limited, and as an ambitious young player I wanted to play in the premiership [sic]”, said the Englishman.

“Swansea offered me an opportunity. And I’m extremely excited to start my career here, will always be thankful to arsenal [sic] for my education.”

Bartley also expressed his commitment to the Swans and is looking forward to his debut at the Liberty Stadium.

“Now I’m here I will give my 100% for Swansea. Thank you everyone who has been behind me. It is a new chapter for me and I can’t wait.”
