English giants Liverpool have announced that the club have come to an agreement with Dutch side SC Heerenveen to buy winger Oussama Assaidi.

Liverpool announced the deal on their official website and informed the club’s fans that Assaidi’s signing will be sealed after the player passes his medical at Melwood.

“Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement with SC Heerenveen for the transfer of winger Oussama Assaidi, subject to the player passing a medical”, said the statement on the Reds’ official website.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had been on the lookout for a wide player after the sale of Dutchman Dirk Kuyt this summer and it seems that the manager has finally found his replacement in the Moroccan.

The 24-year-old winger plays primarily on the left flank but can also play in a more advanced role.

The Moroccan international started his career with Omniworld in 2006 before moving to De Graafschap in 2008. However, he only played at the club for a season before Heerenveen snapped him up in 2009.

He turned in impressive performances for the Dutch side and had an excellent 2011/12 season in which he clocked up 10 goals and created a further seven in the Eredivisie. And his consistent displays last season were convincing enough for Liverpool to snap him up this summer.

Assaidi is the Merseyside side’s third signing this summer after buying Joe Allen and Fabio Borini.
