Former Manchester United player Arnold Muhren believes one of Robin van Persie’s biggest challenges at Old Trafford will be adapting to being just another star in the dressing room, in sharp contrast to the central role he took at Arsenal.
At the Gunners, everything resolved around Van Persie, with the Dutchman the club’s captain and main attacking threat.
But Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has several comparable options to choose from when he picks his starting eleven, while Van Persie will also not be the dominant voice in the dressing room.
"At Arsenal, he was the man around whom everything revolved", Muhren told Algemeen Dagblad.
"At United, it is different. He will have to find a place between [Wayne] Rooney, Nani and [Javier] Hernandez, who all have their egos."
However, Muhren believes that the Dutchman is nevertheless sure to find the back of the net at Old Trafford.
"On the other hand, Van Persie is a guarantee of goals. He can score between 20 and 25. And if he scored 15, then other team-mates can score goals.
"Robin van Persie has gone to United for trophies. He is in the right place at Old Trafford. I am curious, but I have every confidence."
