Lyon and Marseille will have opposition for Chelsea forward Gael Kakuta, if they choose to push ahead with their interest in the young forward.

According to French daily Le Parisien, a new suitor has entered the race in the shape of Greek giants Olympiacos.

The Greek champions have just sold forward Kevin Mirallas to English side Everton and are on the lookout for options to strengthen their side – a route which has led them to Kakuta.

The 21-year-old is acutely aware that playing time at Stamford Bridge will be at a premium this season, especially after the Blues splashed out on Marko Marin, Eden Hazard and Oscar, all of whom would expect to be ahead of Kakuta in the pecking order.

Kakuta had two spells away from Chelsea last season, spending the first half of the campaign with Bolton Wanderers, before returning to his native France with Dijon.

He made a positive impact in Ligue 1, scoring four goals in 13 games, although it was not enough to keep Les Rouges up.

It remains to be seen whether Kakuta is interested in joining Olympiacos, but it could be a switch which offers vastly more first team football than would be the case at Stamford Bridge. It is also not yet clear what further options he will have available this summer, though his stock remains high in France.
