Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Roma in a bid to lure attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic to White Hart Lane, the player’s advisor Michele Gerbino has confirmed – but were rebuffed.

"Yes, it is true.", Gerbino told TMW. "Tottenham did move for him, but Roma and Pjanic’s entourage have thanked them for their interest and politely rejected the offer.

"This is not the moment to move away and to consider other offers."

The 22-year-old, who has 30 matches for the Giallorossi under his belt, and has been representing Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2008, is determined to stay in the Italian capital and continue his career at the Roman outfit.

"The boy has fully adopted the project and wants to succeed at Roma.", Pjanic’s advisor revealed.

"To sum it up, he won’t move."

Pjanic’s contract with Roma expires in 2015, giving the player enough time to consider his options.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s search for a successor to Real Madrid-bound Luka Modric continues, with transfer deadline day looming closer.
