Much-travelled Romanian striker Adrian Mutu has joined French side Ajaccio after his contract with Italian club Cesena was terminated by mutual consent.

Ajaccio have announced that Mutu is set to arrive at the club on Monday and will then undergo a medical before officially putting pen to paper on Tuesday.

He is expected to be available to make his debut for the Ligue 1 club on 1st September, as Ajaccio face Evian at home.


The 33-year-old has played for a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Inter, Parma, Chelsea, Juventus and Fiorentina.

Mutu joined Cesena in 2011 and clocked up 28 appearances in Serie A last season, finding the back of the net eight times.

At international level, the striker has won 73 caps for Romania, scoring 34 goals.
