Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has insisted he is aiming to return to the game with one of the country’s biggest clubs.

Redknapp was surprisingly sacked by Spurs in June, despite having led the London outfit to fourth spot in the Premier League, finishing only one point behind third-placed Arsenal.

The 65-year-old had been heavily linked with the England job, a factor which was perceived as affecting Spurs’ performance and contributing towards a late-season slump; the post ultimately went to Roy Hodgson.

Redknapp is not ready to call it a day though and has his eye on another big job, preferably in England.

"When you’ve been working with top players it’s very difficult to work with inferior players", he told BBC Radio 5.

"I am capable of managing at the very top level so we’ll see what comes up", added Redknapp.

And the ex-West Ham manager insisted that remaining in England is his priority, rather than heading abroad; Redknapp was recently included on Russia’s shortlist when the 2018 World Cup hosts were searching for their next coach.

"England is home to the grandkids and everything else is here.

"It would be difficult unless it was the right offer [abroad] I really fancied, and was a special offer."
