Galatasaray are interested in Danish defender Simon Kjaer, according to Turkish sports magazine Fanatik.

Kjaer currently turns out for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, though his position at the Volkswagen Arena appears insecure, given that he spent last season on loan in Italy with Roma.

The Giallorossi opted against taking the 23-year-old on a permanent basis, but with Kjaer widely considered to be better suited to the Italian game rather than the hustle and bustle of the Bundesliga, Wolves boss Felix Magath could be open to selling the defender.

And without concrete interest from Serie A, Kjaer may be tempted by the prospect of a switch to the Turk Telekom Arena.

Galatasaray are believed to be preparing an offer of €5M for the centre-back when the Turkish window reopens.

Kjaer’s contract with Wolfsburg runs until 2014.
