Arsenal assistant manager Steve Bould believes that Ivorian forward Gervinho could be a “top player”.
Gervinho scored one goal and created another as Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners over Greek giants Olympiacos in their Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium last night.
relatedNewsStory The forward has drawn some criticism this season for missing a number of chances but, after scoring in the Gunners’ 2-1 home defeat against Chelsea at the weekend, followed that up with another strike last night.
Bould has been hugely encouraged and is firmly of the opinion that the Ivory Coast international is quickly improving.
And for the former defender, Gervinho could be a nightmare for opposing backlines.
“He is scoring goals, so his confidence is sky high”, Bould told Arsenal’s official site.
“I think his link play is gradually improving – he set [Santi] Cazorla up quite a few times in the last few games. He is learning his trade [at centre forward].
“I don’t think he has played there an awful lot and he is a danger with his pace and movement at times.
“He could be a top player.”
Arsenal are next in action at the weekend when they visit fellow London club West Ham in the Premier League.
