Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher believes that the club’s ability to come back in games shows a side with real character.

The English giants fell behind yet again this season against Braga in the Champions League on Tuesday night, going to 2-0 down in their clash at Old Trafford.

Eventually, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men came back to win the match 3-2 and ensure that just one more win is needed in their group to book a spot in the Round of 16 and banish the bad memories of last year, when Manchester United dropped into the Europa League.

Ferguson has expressed concerns about his side falling behind in games so often and needing their strikers to dig them out of holes and, though Fletcher finds it concerning too, he does take their ability to win from such positions as evidence of huge character at the club.

"People will talk about slow starts and giving away early goals but the fact we came back to win showed great character", the midfielder told MUTV, before accepting that conceding goals early is something which needs to be cut out.

"Nevertheless, we know we can’t keep doing it [giving away early goals]."

On Sunday the Red Devils visit Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, knowing that a win would give their title push a real boost.
