Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers feels that his side have not had too much luck come their way this season.

The Reds currently sit seventh in the Premier League standings, nine points off a top four spot, with the sides above them also boasting a game in hand.

They also crashed out of the FA Cup and League Cup in the early stages, while on Thursday Rodgers’ men will try to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Zenit St. Petersburg in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie.

The Northern Irishman does not feel that results have reflected performances though and believes Liverpool have not always got the rub of the green the number of times they would have expected.

"In a lot of our games, we haven’t had any luck", Rodgers told a press conference via his club’s feed.

"Hopefully as time goes on the luck will change and we’ll get the wins we deserve."

But the former Watford manager insists he is not spending too much time thinking about that and is instead focusing on working as hard as possible.

"It’s about hard work and looking to the next game. You can’t dwell in sport", he said.

Liverpool are desperate to progress past Zenit tomorrow evening, with the Europa League being their last chance of a trophy this season.
