Lionel Messi is progressing well in his return from injury, Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has revealed.
Messi is out of action with a hamstring injury and is not expected to return to action until early January, as Barcelona take no chances with the Ballon d'Or holder.
Sabella also has a stake in Messi's fitness as he wants the forward to be in tip top shape for next summer's World Cup.
And so the Argentina coach has kept in close contact with Messi.

"I've seen him a few times in the last few days and everything with him is going well", Sabella explained to reporters.
"It is an injury that we should not be too hasty with when trying to cure it.
"He has already been on the pitch to do some light exercise and everything looked good."
Messi picked up his injury against Real Betis at the start of November.
