West Ham United attacking coach Teddy Sheringham has hailed his side’s start in the Premier League, but feels there is still scope for improvement.

The Hammers, who roped in the likes of Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Mauro Zarate during the summer, defeated Liverpool 3-1 at the weekend at Upton Park, with an impressive performance.

The victory helped West Ham to climb up to eighth place in the Premier League with seven points from five games.

And Sheringham, whose side have already scored nine league goals, has credited the summer signings for the Upton Park outfit’s bright start in the Premier League.

“We just brought a few new players in and had a fresh start in the summer”, Sheringham, who was brought in over the summer to coach strikers, was quoted as saying by the club's site.

“Valencia, Sakho and Zarate have all fitted in very quickly and we're off to a flying start, especially after winning on Saturday.

"It is very early days and we're all delighted with where we are at the moment, but we've got a long way to go to improve as well."

West Ham, whose attacking summer signings have all found the back of the net already, will next face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday before welcoming Queens Park Rangers to Upton Park eight days later.
