Chelsea captain John Terry has said that Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard may no longer be part of the Blues, but they will continue to inspire the youngsters at the club.

Drogba has enjoyed two successful stints with the west London outfit. He first arrived at Stamford Bridge from French Ligue 1 side Marseille in the summer of 2004 and went on to win three league titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League in 2012 before his departure for Shanghai Shenhua that same year.

He then returned to Chelsea at the start of the current season and has contributed seven goals and two assists to help the Pensioners wrap up the season with a domestic double. Having announced his departure to leave the club at end of this campaign, the Ivory Coast international was given a resounding farewell by the Stamford Bridge faithful last night.

Lampard too enjoyed a 13-year spell with the Blues before he departed for Manchester City at the start of the last season and scored on his final Premier League appearance against Southampton last night.

He will be joining MLS outfit New York City.

Terry has said that the two Chelsea legends may not be at the club anymore, but they will continue to inspire the budding youngsters at Stamford Bridge.

“It was an unbelievable day but at the same time a sad day with Didier going”, the Chelsea captain told his club’s site.

“Lamps has also played his last Premier League game so that’s two legends who will be sorely missed, but they’ve set the example for the younger players in the squad.”
