Rangers boss Mark Warburton has rubbished reports linking with him with leaving Ibrox to take over at other clubs.

The Englishman, who took charge of Rangers at the start of the season, has already guided the club to the Scottish Championship title and the Challenge Cup.

He also helped the Gers to beat their arch-rivals Celtic and reach the Scottish Cup final earlier in the month.

Due to his positive impact at Ibrox, it was reported in some corners that freshly-relegated Premier League outfit Aston Villa are keen to appoint Warburton as their new boss.

And the 53-year-old, who admitted that it is normal to be linked with other clubs when a manager does well, however, distanced himself from those reports.

Warburton went on to add that a manager will only be touted for jobs when his players do well.

“It happens to everyone. I’m not disputing that fact”, he was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.

“But any manager will only get touted for jobs if his players do well. So you’ve almost got a vicious circle. The players do well, they get linked to other clubs.

“Then the manager gets told he’s going somewhere.

"I was told five guys had me going to one club last week. It was news to me.

"But that’s just how the game works.”

Rangers, who will conclude their league campaign with an away fixture at St. Mirren on Sunday, will face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final on 21st May.
