Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that Manchester United have slapped in an improved offer for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and admits that the club will take a decision on the Armenian’s future at the weekend.

The tug-of-war between Mino Raiola and Dortmund has been on for weeks, as the Italian super agent looks to fulfil his client’s wish to join Manchester United this summer.

Raiola has made it clear that Mkhitaryan won’t sign a new deal with Dortmund, and wants Dortmund to accept Manchester United’s offer this summer, rather than letting him leave for free at the end of next season.

Dortmund have already rejected an offer from the Red Devils for the 27-year-old winger, but Manchester United have reportedly tabled a fresh and improved bid for the Armenia captain.

And Watzke admits that indeed is the case, and the club are taking a fresh look at the issue as the situation has changed after the Red Devils significantly improved their offer.

He also added that BVB will assess all their options before taking a final call on Mkhitaryan’s future at the club this weekend.

“The situation is now different”, Watzke told German news group Funke Mediengruppe.

“Manchester [United] have made a much improved offer. In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision.

“And as we are back in training on Monday we will decide at the weekend.

“I have contacted the relevant people and we will weigh things up at the weekend. And then the board will make definitely make a decision this weekend.”

With Dortmund reportedly lining up replacements for Mkhitaryan, the club are expected to accept Manchester United’s offer and sanction the player’s move to Old Trafford.
