Former Roma striker Francesco Graziani is eyeing revenge against Liverpool when the two sides meet in the Champions League semi-final later this month.

The buzz word around Rome has been revenge since the two sides qualified for the semi-finals of the competition and the clamour is getting louder after they were drawn to face each other.

Roma have qualified for the semi-final of Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 1984, the year where they lost in the final against Liverpool in front of their home crowd at the Stadio Olimpico.

And Graziani, who was part of the vanquished Roma team in 1984, admits that he wanted to face Liverpool as he wants the Serie A giants to finally avenge that huge defeat.

The former striker also believes Liverpool are certainly weaker than Bayern Munich and Real Madrid and Roma can compete with the Reds on an equal footing.

Graziani told RMC Sport: “Roma can beat Liverpool and I wanted them for revenge.

“And also between the three left, they are the weakest. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are the strongest teams.

“With them [Liverpool], we can play as equals. Even against Barcelona we had very little chance but we moved on.

“So everything is possible.”

Mohamed Salah will facing his former side in Liverpool colours for the first since leaving Roma last summer.
