The 19-year-old centre-back is a top target for Leicester in the ongoing transfer window but they have found resistant sellers in Saint-Etienne.

Saint-Etienne rejected another bid worth €32m from Leicester on Monday, which was their third offer after the French club rejected earlier approaches of €25m and €28.5m.

Fofana has gone public about his desire to leave Saint-Etienne and join Leicester but the Ligue 1 club are determined about holding onto the teenage defender.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Puel has been clear about not selling the player before the end of the season.

The coach made it clear to Saint-Etienne at the start of the transfer window that Fofana should not be sold this year.

Puel and the Saint-Etienne board had another meeting on Monday following Leicester’s bid and are on the same page.

There are fears that a poor season or an injury might degrade Fofana’s value next summer.

But for the moment, the club are clear about not selling the young centre-back.
