The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Hertha Berlin and made a big splash in German football, seeing his stock rise in the process.

Liverpool though are prepared to sell Grujic for the right price and a potential €20m deal has been mooted.

Hertha Berlin remain keen on Grujic but, according to German magazine Kicker, he is not their first choice target to fill a vacant midfield slot.

The Bundesliga side are still taking stock of the Serbian’s situation at Anfield and have not made any concrete advances.

Grujic has not made a competitive appearance for the Reds since December 2017 and has played just 52 minutes in the Premier League, although he was on the bench for the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal last month.

The midfielder was Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool manager in January 2016 with a £5.1m swoop from Red Star Belgrade.

Grujic has made 54 appearances for Hertha Berlin with nine goals and three assists over his two spells.

He recently changed his agent.
