The Swiss international’s exploits last season in Gladbach colours that helped the Germans earn a Champions League spot turned the heads of several top clubs in Europe, including Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, and Premier League trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Zakaria had been sidelined with a long-term knee injury since March, but started for Die Fohlen in their 4-1 league win against Schalke last weekend after coming on for a cameo against Augsburg on 21st November.

It is claimed that Bayern Munich and Manchester City have now emerged as the key contenders for Zakaria’s signature, but the midfielder is playing down transfer talk.

Zakaria went on to stress that he is 100 per cent committed to giving his best for Gladbach at the moment and did not think about any other clubs during his enforced break.

“I’ve read a lot, but it’s a lot of talk”, Zakaria was quoted as saying by German outlet Fussball Transfers.

“It’s just rumours.

“I’m 100 per cent with Borussia Monchengladbach and I didn’t think of other clubs during my break.”

It remains to be seen whether Zakaria will leave Gladbach soon, with the January transfer window looming closer on the horizon.
