The Hammers are currently in the transfer market for a new centre-forward, having sold Sebastien Haller to Eredivisie giants Ajax earlier this month.

David Moyes’ side have been credited with an interest in a host of strikers, including Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, Red Bull Salzburg’s Patson Daka and Reims’ Dia.

However, the Irons are now prepared to move ahead with their interest in Dia after finding out that pursuing a deal for their other targets is complicated.

West Ham touched based with Ligue 1 outfit Reims on Wednesday and now expect they will have to fork out up to £15m to sign him during the January transfer window.

Dia is the joint top scorer in the French top flight, having scored 12 goals from 17 appearances so far this season.

Moyes is keen to add the Senegal international to his ranks as he feels his playing style is more suited to his team than Haller was.

With West Ham open to formalising their interest in Dia, it remains to be seen if and when they will do that, and whether the player will agree to the move as he has been clear he is no rush to leave Reims.
