Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming to finish the season strongly and at least manage to remain in the top four spots even if Manchester United fail to win the league title.
The Manchester United manager wants to invest in his defence in the summer and is keen to bring in a top-class centre-back who could potentially partner Harry Maguire.
Several defenders have been linked with a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season and Konate is believed to be one of the top targets.
But it has been claimed that Manchester United are yet to make a move for the Frenchman and put in an enquiry for him.
While Konate may be part of their shortlist, the Red Devils are yet to make any meaningful progress in their interest.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Atletico Madrid’s Stefan Savic have also been mentioned as targets for the Red Devils.
Manchester United are reportedly still compiling their shortlist and are yet to finalise their priority target for the summer.
