Spurs are on the lookout for a striker that could deputise for Harry Kane and Saints marksman Ings has been on their radar since last summer.

The 28-year-old’s future at St Mary’s is under the scanner as he is yet to sign a new deal at the club, with him about to enter the final year of his contract in the summer.

Spurs have also been linked with holding interest in alternative options in the likes of Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic as a deputy for Kane.

However, Jose Mourinho’s side are still optimistic in their chances of luring away Ings from Southampton.

Tottenham continue to keep a close eye on Ings’ situation at Southampton and still hope they might be able to add him to their ranks.

Ings is not short of potential suitors at the moment as in addition to Spurs, it has been claimed that Manchester City are also interested in him as a replacement for outgoing striker Sergio Aguero.

The Saints star has missed chunks of the current Premier League Campaign with injury, but has nine goals and four assists in his 24 league outings.
