Draxler’s future at PSG has been subject to speculation over the last 18 months and the French giants were willing to sell him in recent windows, with Leeds claimed to have come close to landing him last summer.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival has changed the dynamic somewhat and the Argentine appreciates the quality the midfielder brings to his PSG squad.

Now PSG are looking at keeping hold of Draxler and avoiding losing him on a free transfer in the summer.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, PSG have indeed offered the player a one-year contract extension to stay at the Parc des Princes.

PSG do not want to lose Draxler this summer and go into the market for a replacement amidst the current financial climate.

The Parisians also feel holding on to the German would  allow them to divert funds towards other areas of the squad.

Arsenal and Leeds are believed to be interested in snapping him up on a free transfer, but so far the player has not made a decision.

Draxler is deliberating over his options but is acutely aware no club would offer him the level of wages he is on at PSG at the moment.
