Kieran Tierney is the undisputed first-choice left-back at Arsenal, but he has struggled with injuries during his first two years at the club.

Arsenal were even forced to play Granit Xhaka at left-back towards the end of last season and Mikel Arteta wants to bring in a left-back in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners made enquiries into Van Aanholt’s situation in January, but the club are claimed to be looking at younger options in the position.

But the north London club have not completely taken their eyes off the Dutch left-back in the summer transfer window.

The defender is set to leave Crystal Palace on a free transfer once his contract expires at the end of this month.

A Premier League-proven left-back, Van Aanholt would also be a cheap option and could add experience to Arteta’s Arsenal squad.

However, they may be likely to move for him later in the transfer window if they fail to land their desired targets.
