West Ham are gearing up for a season in which they have Europa League on the agenda and boss David Moyes has already roped in shot-stopper Alphonse Areola to bolster his squad, with further signings expected in the coming weeks.

The Hammers are closing in on reinforcing their backline as they are the pushing for the signature of Fiorentina centre-back Milenkovic.

La Viola are seeking a fee around the €17m mark for the defender while West Ham, who opened with a €13m offer are now prepared to fork out €16m.

The London outfit are locked in talks with Fiorentina over Milenkovic and their latest round of negotiations on Wednesday have largely been positive, but a deal is yet to be struck.

And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina want West Ham to pay an additional €1m to match their asking price for the 23-year-old and whether it should be bonus payments or part of the fee is what is holding up the deal.

But both clubs are tipped to find an agreement over Milenkovic in the coming days and he could move to London as soon as this weekend.

Milenkovic has been training with Fiorentina this week but could be playing top flight football in England in the coming days with West Ham close to luring him away.
