Even as the Owls were relegated last season, the midfielder proved to be one of their best players as he registered nine goals and six assists in the Championship.
The likes of Millwall and Birmingham City were linked with Windass this summer, with the former even seeing two bids rejected, before he signed a new two-year deal with the club.
Moore expressed his joy at Windass continuing on at Hillsborough, stating that he considers him to be a key part of his squad.
The Owls boss insisted that they never meant to sell Windass this summer and added that he cannot wait until the midfielder is back fit again as he has been out with an injury.
“Josh is a Sheffield Wednesday player and we are delighted he has signed on with us for this season”, Moore said in a press conference.
“He’s an important player.
“We are looking forward to getting him back.
“We are really pleased that we continue with that relationship going forward.
“We had no intention of selling Josh and letting him go anywhere even before his injury.
“He’s our player and our job is to get him back fit and continually improving him as a player.”
As a result of his injury, Windass did not play in the Owls’ game against Charlton Athletic last week and he will not be in the squad for the game against Doncaster Rovers over the weekend; he is still waiting to make his League One bow this season.
