Berahino has been plying his trade in Belgium for two years since joining Zulte Waregem from Stoke City in the summer of 2019.

However, it emerged today that the Burundi international is edging closer to a return to English football, with an unnamed club in talks sign him.

An English club have been claimed to have reached an agreement with Zulte Waregem over the permanent transfer of the 28-year-old.

And now, League One club Sheffield Wednesday have been identified as the club that are trying to take Berahino back to England.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Berahino is expected to join Sheffield Wednesday from Zulte Waregem before the transfer window slams shut today.

The Owls have already added the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jaden Brown, Sylla Sow and Florian Kamberi to their ranks this summer.

And they hope to strengthen their squad further with the addition of Berahino from Zulte Waregem.
