Championship side Blackburn are swooping to land Markanday on a permanent deal to boost their hopes of winning promotion to the Premier League.

The attacker’s contract at Tottenham is set to run out in the summer and the club were keen to lock him down on fresh terms.

Markanday though rejected Spurs’ efforts and is now poised to end his north London adventure by moving to the north west.

Blackburn are putting Markanday through his medical paces this morning and he will hope to sail through the checks without issue.

He will join a side sitting in third place in the Championship table and only kept out of the automatic promotion spots on goal difference.

Markanday will be looking for first team football at Ewood Park as he aims to hit the ground running.

The 20-year-old has been in superb form for Tottenham’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2, scoring 12 goals in 14 games and providing five assists.
