Lingard’s contract expires at the end of the season and he will be free to leave Manchester United in the summer.

Tottenham are interested in signing him then on a free transfer, but Lingard is also attracting considerable interest in the ongoing transfer window.

West Ham have continued to push for him since failing to sign him last summer and Newcastle are now reportedly working on a deal to sign him on loan this month.

And it has been claimed that that midfielder would prefer to move West Ham over joining Newcastle.

Lingard enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at West Ham last season, which got him back into the England squad.

David Moyes remains an admirer of the player and wants to take him to the east London club again.

West Ham being a London club is also an attraction for Lingard, who wants to move to the capital city.

Newcastle are pressing ahead with their efforts to sign him but Lingard’s preference remains the Hammers.

If they do not get him this month West Ham will be in the race to sign him on a free transfer in the summer as well.
