Having avoided relegation in a poor Premier League campaign, Toffees boss Frank Lampard is looking to revamp his squad as he looks to implement his style of football at Goodison Park.

Lampard has identified centre-back as a priority position that needs bolstering and Tarkowski emerged as Everton’s top target.

The 29-year-old is available on a free transfer with his contract at Burnley set to expire this month.

The Merseyside giants handed the defender a contract offer last month and Lampard explained his plans to him in the hope of completing a deal.

And Everton are now putting Tarkowski through a medical as they close in on securing a swoop for him.

However, the Toffees and Tarkowski still have to sort out the final details of the move, which will see him remain in the Premier League next season.

Everton are tipped to face no issues getting a deal over the line for the centre-back and he is set to be Lampard’s first summer signing at Goodison Park.
