Nunez has long been a Manchester United target but he is now expected to move to Anfield this summer.

The Reds are in talks with Benfica and are believed to be closing in on an agreement for the signature of the Uruguayan forward.

There is still no agreement despite contrary claims but Liverpool have tabled a bid worth €100m including add-ons for the striker.

There were suggestions that Liverpool are looking to offer a player to Benfica as part of a deal, but according to Portuguese sports daily A Bola, the Portuguese giants are not interested in agreeing to such a idea.

Benfica want a straightforward deal involving cash and are not receptive to signing any players from Liverpool as part of the agreement.

The Portuguese giants currently have an offer worth €80m plus another €20m in bonuses from the Reds.

But it has been claimed that Benfica are pushing Liverpool to offer more money as part of the negotiations.

Nunez wants to join the Merseyside giants and has given his word to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
