Rabiot has a contract that lasts until next year in Turin and he could be a possible departure for the Italian giants as they look to balance the books.

Newcastle are claimed to be interested in signing the Juventus midfielder, who started 28 games for the Bianconeri in Serie A last season.

It is suggested that Newcastle made a move to take Rabiot to St James’ Park as Eddie Howe eyes reinforcements.

However, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Rabiot has turned down the opportunity to pursue a move to Newcastle.

Rabiot’s reason for the rejection is clear as the midfielder wants to play Champions League football next season.

Apart from the Magpies, Chelsea and Manchester United are linked with him, though the latter suffer from the same ailment as the Magpies in not having Champions League football.

Rabiot missed just one match in the Champions League last season for Juventus and it appears that he values the competition highly and will not move to a club that are not participating in it next term.
