The Toffees’ only new signing so far in the ongoing transfer window is centre-back James Tarkowski, while boss Frank Lampard remains keen on bolstering his midfield and attack.

Everton are continuing the process of identifying potential targets and a La Liga star has caught their eye.

The Merseyside giants have approached Real Betis man Rodriguez and have probed the possibility of a move for him.

Everton are yet to slap in any formal bids for the Verdiblancos star but have tested the water over taking him to England.

And according to Spanish daily Marca, any club looking to snare away Rodriguez will have a tough fight on their hands as Real Betis are not planning to sell him this summer, unless they receive a huge bid for him.

The Spaniards have a clear idea on which charges they want to offload in the ongoing window and Rodriguez is not among them as he is a key player under coach Manuel Pellegrini.

But Real Betis would cash in on Rodriguez if they get a big fee, while the player has indicated his desire to remain at the Benito Villamarin Stadium several times.
