Gallagher impressed for Crystal Palace last season on loan and even picked up their Player of the Year award.

It has been a shaky start for him this season though, back at Stamford Bridge, where he has made an appearance in every match, but got sent off in the first half against Leicester City over the weekend.

Crystal Palace are interested in taking the midfielder back to Selhurst Park after his heroics in the last campaign.

The Eagles have now tabled a bid of £27m for the services of Gallagher, after stepping up efforts to take on the midfielder as the end of the window approaches.

Crystal Palace’s wish is that Gallagher ends up signing for them permanently instead of a second loan spell.

It remains to be seen what Chelsea’ response will be to the offer, with Gallagher’s Blues contract running until the summer of 2025.

With the World Cup coming up, Gallagher may have more chance of game-time at Crystal Palace than at Chelsea, where he has played all four matches but only made late cameos in two of them.
