Mikel Arteta wants a central midfielder on deadline day amidst injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, who is expected to be out for a lengthy period of time.

Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder and Danilo has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the final hours of the window.

But it seems unlikely that Arsenal will be able to agree on a deal to sign the Brazilian on deadline day.

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, they are some way away from meeting the midfielder’s asking price.

Arsenal are prepared to offer a fee of £20m but that is nowhere close to what Palmeiras want.

The Brazilian giants are reluctant to lose the player at this stage of the window and they are only likely to accept letting him go for a big fee.

Palmeiras want between £30m to £35m before any deal to sell Danilo could be agreed upon.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to splash out on deadline day to bring in a midfielder.
