Garner enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and he was a player in-demand in the ongoing window.

The midfielder attracted interest from several Premier League clubs including the Tricky Trees but Everton have now won the race for his services.

Everton have reached an agreement with Manchester United over a permanent deal for Garner, which would see them pay £9m initially.

Garner could end up costing Everton up to £15.5m in the future while Manchester United also have a sell-on clause in the deal.

It was also claimed that the Mancunians have managed to include a buy-back clause in the deal to sell Garner to Everton.

However, contrary to claims, the Red Devils do not have a clause they could trigger to buy back Garner from Everton for a fixed price in the future.

Everton still have some work to do before they add Garner to their books and will look to wrap it up as soon as possible with the window set to slam shut tonight.
