The Premier League giants revealed on Tuesday night that the Glazer family are ready for a partial or full sale of the club, through a statement released by the football club.

Manchester United are now formally on the market and the fans are now likely to get their wish of seeing the Glazer family exit the club 17 years after a controversial leveraged buyout.

While the Glazers are open to investment in the football club, they are not prepared to relinquish any control over Manchester United without a full sale.

There is likely to be massive interest in buying Manchester United but the process is unlikely to be quick.

It has been claimed that formal proposals and offers are not expected to be presented to the club before Christmas.

Manchester United have employed the Raine Group, who oversaw the sale of Chelsea earlier this year, as their exclusive financial advisers.

Some of the groups who failed to land Chelsea are expected to get involved in the bidding for the Red Devils.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United have new owners in place before the end of the season.
