Stockton has not put pen to paper on a new contract with the Shrimps as he looks to engineer a move away.

Ross County manager Malky Mackay intends to steal a march on Motherwell and Forest Green Rovers and the Scottish side have gone in with a bid.

Mackay has put forward an offer to sign the 28-year-old striker as Ross County look to find more goals to arrest their slide towards the relegation zone.

Stockton is currently valued at £150,000, a price tag the Shrimps are not keen to budge on.

The forward was keen to depart the Mazuma Stadium in the summer and as a result found himself on the fringes of Derek Adams’ side.

Morecambe want a fee regardless for the wantaway striker and are determined to get as much as they can for him.

It remains to be seen how Motherwell and Forest Green Rovers will respond to Ross County putting a bid in.

Stockton has 22 appearances in all competitions for the Shrimps to his name this season, with only two goals scored.
