It has been more than two weeks since Pompey sacked Danny Cowley following a poor run of form and they are yet to bring in a new manager.
The club have been in talks with several candidates while interim boss Simon Bassey continues to be in charge of the first team.
Former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder is one of the experienced names Portsmouth are looking at.
But it has been claimed that a final decision is yet to be made on who could become the next Portsmouth manager.
The club want to be careful and do not want to be rushed into making an appointment at the moment.
They will continue to hold talks and assess the options in front of them before making a final decision.
Portsmouth are 15th in the League One standings and are without a win since beating MK Dons on 26th November.
